Project Compression Update

February 2, 2021

Agencies with projects eligible for closure in the SMART Project Costing module were contacted by SMART Team staff with the request to close completed projects so the Project Compression process could be re-executed.

The efforts by agency staff to meet this request are greatly appreciated!

Project Compression, a part of the SMART Archive and Purge process, is scheduled to run on Sunday, December 20, 2020 after monthly maintenance is complete. SMART will be unavailable to users that day until the process is complete. Projects that have been closed and marked as eligible for compression will no longer retain detailed transaction rows and will only reflect rolled-up data for reporting purposes.

Going forward, agencies are requested to review projects on a regular basis to determine whether they can be closed. Once a project has been in a closed status for more than 7 years, it will automatically become eligible for the annual Project Compression process. A Month End Project Costing Checklist document reminding agencies to conduct this review will be available on SMART Web after December 20, 2020 at the following link:  https://smartweb.ks.gov/home/month-end-checklists/
