Due to recent changes from the SMART Upgrade, the Expense module no longer automatically calculates the travel quarters when the Meals & Incidental Expenses (MIE) expense type is used. To assist agencies, a worksheet is being provided that calculates MIE based on travel times.
The use of the MIE worksheet is optional but may be helpful in calculating accurately for entry into SMART. The worksheet has sample data included, which is intended for illustrative purposes. In addition to using the worksheet, users should also perform the calculation manually to confirm the amounts. Additional instructions are provided on a second tab within the worksheet:
